WHO WE ARE

Davis Schools Foundation (DSF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting student well-being and enhancing the educational experience of all K-12 students in the Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD). DSF works in partnership with families, educators, school staff, and community members, and provides annual grants to DJUSD that bolster, support, and sustain district-wide student programs and services that would not be possible with public funds alone. Since 2004, DSF has raised over $4.75 million to fund instructional aides, counseling services, computer labs, librarians, special education program specialist, music programs, outdoor education, and much more, thanks to the generous support of our donors.

OUR MISSION

Engage the greater Davis community to mobilize resources and provide financial support to our local public schools, helping to ensure effective and equitable learning environments that emphasize social, emotional, and physical wellbeing for all students.

By working together, we can make the greatest impact for our students. Our funding priorities include:

1. Mental Health and Counseling Services: Provide mental health programs and counseling services to enable students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom;

2. Equitable Opportunity and Access: Ensure all students have access to the resources and tools they need to develop 21st century skills for success and fulfillment;

3. Support for Educators: Equip DJUSD faculty and staff with the resources they need to continue providing high-quality education in safe and supportive environments.

HISTORY

The Davis Schools Foundation was formed in 2004 by a group of community members who shared a commitment to maintaining and improving the excellence of programs in Davis schools. The founding members crafted a “Dollar-a-Day” concept for raising funds, urging supporters to contribute the equivalent of $1 a day for a year, or $365, to make sure that our children continued to receive an excellent public school education.

Some of the programs and positions we have funded include core educational programs (math, science, English), music instruction, vice principals, counselors, Library support and the high school career center. See the list of the annual grants.
